Auld Lang Syne

Poem
by Robert Burns set to traditional Scottish folk tune, sung on stroke
of midnight on New Year's Eve (aka Hogmanay, see separate
entry) in much of the English speaking world.
A popular mobile ringtone in China in the 1990s; can also be heard
daily at some Chinese department stores at closing time in imitation
of widespread practice in Japan.
To
see Auld Lang Syne performed by folk singer Gerry McGregor (including
KTV-style singalong subtitiles) click here.

Braveheart

Rousing
Oscar winning account (1995) of William Wallace, national hero and
key figure in Scotland's historic Wars of Independence. Guaranteed
to inspire all sons of Scotland, much documented historical inaccuracies
(e.g. 'no bridge' at the Battle of Stirling Bridge) notwithstanding.
