About Chinese for Fun - Course Outline

The course comprises 15 units - 10 language units and 5 culture units, each with a further linguistic aspect.

The 10 language units cover speaking and tones, grammar and the written language (characters). The content is designed to cover key topics relevant to western and international school students in likely contexts (tourism, school trip, partner school exchange etc.)

For schools who wish to stress the Chinese script an enhanced version is available, placing more emphasis on the acquisition of Chinese characters.

The course is the most relevant of its kind available today.

Cultural Challenges

The 5 culture units enable students to research a variety of engaging and appropriate topics - subject matter includes China's brutal and brilliant First Emperor, the challenges of wildlife conservation and, in the unit focusing on Chinese cinema, an exclusive interview with movie star Jet Li.

Each culture unit includes two challenges, one with an integrated linguistic content and the other culminating in the production of an artefact for use within the school, to publicise the exciting learning taking place in the field of Chinese studies. (See marketing opps for more details.)

Full planning comes supplied, to the highest international standards. Includes curricular link document, tying the course in with the formal curriculum.

If you are thinking of introducing Chinese to your school or if you think that your Chinese teaching is caught in a rut then this course is for you.

Chinese is Fun for teachers too!

With learning as a lifelong process, why not invite interested members of staff (or parents) to sit in on classes too?

It's great for team building, fun for the kids and immensely rewarding for the adults themselves, whether as preparation for a school trip or for personal enrichment.
